For example, the case of John Pozsgai filling in wetlands shows that he was advised by three engineers that the property was construed as wetlands before he purchased it, and that he could not fill without a permit.  He then  filled and continued filling after a cease and desist letter, a restraining order and an injunction.  This guy simply decided he couldn't be bothered to obey the law, and ignored it against advice.  Rand Paul conveniently doesn't tell you that.  He was convicted by a jury of of 40 counts of unpermitted discharge.  [http://law.justia.com/cases/federal/appellate-courts/F2/999/719/309100/ Here is the US Court Of Appeals Opinion on the case, which summarizes it.  See especially paragraphs 8 to 11.]

In Chapter 4, Rand discusses the Big Hill Acres development.  He doesn't bother to tell you that the problem was they were filling in wetlands and installing septic systems that couldn't work in the flooded soil.  He doesn't bother to tell you of all the warnings about permit requiremens and laws that were ignored or flouted.  He attributes the quick jury verdict to exhaustion and boredom, rather than obvious guilt.  You can read a better account at: [http://masglp.olemiss.edu/Water%20Log/WL25/25.1bighill.htm Trio Convicted in Big Hill Acres Case].

Rand Paul is a classic political liar.  He is pro-business and anti-environment.  Put him in charge to repeal environmental regulation and we'll have lead back in paint, gasoline, and drinking water.
