Recent outbreaks of measles (2019) around the world have been occurring where herd immunity (UNICEF says vaccination rates of at least 95% are needed to prevent outbreaks) does not exist.  Many of those locales have had low rates of vaccination because of anti-vaccination disinformation.  The example of American Samoa had more than 4000 cases (in a nation of 200,000) and more than 60 deaths, mostly of children under 5.  More than 190,000 died of measles worldwide in 2018.  All preventable.

Some people are worried about harms from vaccines.  Yes, they exist (though they are rather rare), but they are MUCH smaller than harms from the diseases you are being vaccinated against.  Nor is the burden of this risk carried by individuals: see the [National Vaccine Injury Compensation Program].
